The Beach House: Reimagined Living
The Beach House is a substantial home extension and renovation designed to respond sensitively to its dual-aspect setting, with expansive sea views to the front of the property and a large garden to the rear. Developed for a private client, the project carefully balances the needs of both residents while working with the site’s falling hillside topography to introduce new functional spaces.
The design explores how the house can be extended and reconfigured to strengthen its relationship with both the garden and the sea. New living spaces are arranged to encourage a seamless connection between inside and outside, creating environments that can be used comfortably throughout the year while framing views towards the sea.
Rather than simply increasing floor area, the proposal reorganises the internal layout to give greater clarity and purpose to each space. Certain rooms prioritise the long views towards the sea, while others focus inward toward the garden. Beyond the response to site, the design also considers how the home can better support the daily routines and evolving needs of its occupants.
Currently in the sketch design phase, the project is progressing toward developed design, with ongoing exploration of spatial arrangement, material expression, and structural strategy.
